100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion and 21st Anniversary of the Barrhaven Legion

The Royal Canadian Legion is a not-for-profit service organization that serves our Veteran community at large. Our Mission Statement is, “To serve Veterans and their dependents, promote remembrance, and act in the service of Canada and its communities.”

The Royal Canadian Legion was created to advocate for Veterans, support their families, and ensure the memory of fallen soldiers continued after World War I. Legion branches provided Veterans with a place to gather, to share stories, to connect with other Veterans. Since 1925, The Royal Canadian Legion has grown to more than 270,000 members with 1,350 branches across Canada. We support our Veterans and their families as well as hospitals and many other organizations through funds raised each October/November during our Poppy Campaign.

Since opening our doors in 2005 with a membership of 50 new members, our membership at Branch 641 has increased to +750. Ours is a success story; however, with success comes growth and for the second time in our 21-year history, we have outgrown our premises. As rents continue to climb to our existing $12,000 per month, our Executive feels the time is right to purchase land and build our own clubhouse so we can continue our important work – supporting our Veterans.

Towards this goal, Branch 641 will be celebrating the 100th birthday of the Royal Canadian Legion and the 21st anniversary of Branch 641 on September 19 and all funds raised at this event will be directed to our Land and Building Trust Fund.

Your support of Branch 641 and the important work we do to support our Veterans would be very much appreciated. Please contact us if you have any questions or require additional information.
