Barrhaven Winter Warm Up Tour
Winter is here and if you’re looking for a great and inexpensive excuse to get out of the house, check out some of our amazing Barrhaven cafés and coffee shops. Warm up with an amazing hot drink and treat yourself to something freshly baked. This is a great way to break up those long winter months and something you can do on your own or with friends and family! Over the next couple of months, we will be taking you on a tour of our Barrhaven cafés to hopefully inspire you to explore. Each one is unique and they all offer something special. So put those boots on and head out for the perfect winter warm up in Barrhaven!
Equator Coffee
Equator is Barrhaven’s newest café and the community could not be more excited. If you haven’t checked it out yet, it’s located adjacent and attached to Indigo! Equator Coffee is a local Ottawa success story and we are so happy to have this café here in Barrhaven. They believe that coffee is more than just a beverage; it is a way of changing the world. They have been roasting, delivering, and serving fresh, fair trade, organic coffee since 1998. Did you know the name Equator was chosen for a reason? To “Equate” the benefit of drinking coffee, not just for the consumer but for all the people along the way, from their staff who pack and serve it, to the farmers who grow it.
What to Try?
Definitely start with a coffee. Whether you like a simple drip or a fancier latté every cup is perfection and the staff take the time and care to ensure this. On this particular visit, we sampled a flat white – so simple yet perfection.
Bringing the kids? Get them hot chocolate. The presentation is everything here and it makes for a special treat! Settle in and watch them enjoy!
Baked goods bring it all together! Equator has a wide variety of options that are sure to please! All are baked fresh and warmed to order.
PRO TIP: Stop into Indigo first and buy that book that you have had your eye on, order the perfect coffee and treat, then sip the afternoon away as you enjoy your new book.
