Born out of passion, Tapri Chai is bringing unique and authentic flavours to the Barrhaven community! This brand new restaurant is located at 200 Kennevale Drive and from the second you walk in the door you will be immersed in the beautiful space and fantastic aromas of Indian street food and, of course, Chai. Stop in for a great meal, a snack, or a cup of Chai with a friend!
Tapri Chai is the vision of owners Naina and Parth and their passion for flavours, authenticity, and experience has led them to opening their first restaurant here in Barrhaven. While traveling to Quebec City, they visited a major coffee house chain in search of morning tea and while the Chai Latte they ordered was great, it wasn’t authentic. It was at this moment that the concept of Tapri Chai was born with the goal of bringing Chai and authentic Indian flavours to Canada – to show that Indian food is so much more than Butter Chicken and Naan!
This trip was just before the pandemic began and during lockdowns, Naina and Parth spent the suddenly endless availability of time learning how to cook and perfecting their recipes. With help and guidance from family, they created something truly special. Once they were ready to share it, they started hosting popular pop up events at the ghost kitchen at City Centre and the reaction was outstanding. Over the coming months, these pop ups would become more regular and the business evolved to include milk beverages being sold in local South Asian Grocery stores.
From the beginning, the plan was always to open a restaurant of their own in Barrhaven. Loving the diversity of the community, it was the perfect location for their new endeavour. Tapri Chai opened last month and now our community can share in this passion that Naina & Parth have created.
With a full menu of unique options, there is something there for everyone. All of their spices are ethically sourced from India as a means of supporting farmers and agricultural workers there as well as maintaining the authenticity of every bite. It’s a curated experience that we are so excited to have right here in our community!
