What’s for Dinner? – Heart & Crown Barrhaven

Do you ever see a social media post from a restaurant and think to yourself, “I need to try that menu item!” Well that is exactly what happened this week as we were trying to choose a restaurant to feature! After seeing the Beer Battered Fish Sandwich in a post from the Heart & Crown, we just knew we had to try it!

Our meal was a casual night out with friends! The atmosphere at the Heart & Crown cannot be beat! There’s an energy when you walk in the door and the service is top-notch! Although it wasn’t part of our plans for this particular evening, we highly recommend checking out the live music an DJs on the weekend!

So let’s get right to it – The Beer Battered Fish Sandwich!  Expectations were high and this sandwich did not disappoint! If you are a fan of fish and chips, give this a try next time – you can thank me later! This sandwich features beer-battered Nova Scotia haddock, dubliner cheddar, arugula, pickled onions, coleslaw, sweet pickles, and house tartar! The sweetness of the onions, coleslaw, and pickles are the perfect match for the battered fish. And the cheddar is a surprising but great addition; fish and cheese are not a common combination but this works so well!

To keep the seafood theme going, we also ordered the Chowder! This soup is packed with the most delicious seafood (haddock, salmon, shrimp, and scallops), along with bacon, potatoes, celery, onions, dill, and cream. It comes served with crispy rosemary garlic toast! This soup is a big meal and the flavours are out of this world!

It was a great night with friends at the Heart & Crown and we can’t wait to go back! Stop by and try it for yourself at 3161 Strandherd! Try the fish sandwich and let us know what you think!
