The Royal Oak pubs in Ottawa are known for their delicious pub fare and cold beverages so we stopped by the Barrhaven Oak for just that – the perfect pub night out! Whether you want to catch a game, meet up with friends, play some Trivia, or just head out for some great eats, the Royal Oak is the place to be! We went for some classics off the menu but they do have a great variety of items to suit all tastes!
We started the evening with a couple of drinks – Red Sangria and Strawberry Daiquiri! While the Oak is certainly known for their tap list, they do have a great variety of cocktail and wine options. Both selections were tasty and refreshing!
To get things started food-wise, we ordered a Pita Plate to share. This is a great starter and it features hummus, tzatziki, a great assortment of fresh vegetables, kalamata olives, and warm & fluffy naan bread. Perfect for sharing and a great appetizer to get things going!
For our entrees, we stuck with some classics – Fish & Chips and a burger! The Royal Oak is known for their fish and chips and it’s always a good choice off their menu. It features a tasty (and large) fillet of haddock, perfectly fried in crispy batter along with coleslaw, tartar sauce, and fries. The Oak Burger is a traditional burger done perfectly. Beef, cheddar, and bacon with all the fixings!
Also, like many other Barrhaven families, we had a tag along for dinner and the Royal Oak also have a great kids menu! There are a variety of options from grilled cheese to a kids fish and chips, but our little diner opted for the child favourite of KD Mac & Cheese! Kids dinners are all $10 and come with a drink and dessert!
