The Barrhaven BIA Honours 7 of Barrhaven’s Founding Businesses with Legacy Awards

On November 27th, 2025, as a part of our Annual General Meeting, the Barrhaven BIA was proud to honour 7 of Barrhaven’s oldest independently owned businesses with Legacy Awards in celebration of our upcoming 20th Anniversary on January 1st, 2026.

Twenty years ago, Barrhaven’s business community was just beginning to take shape. It was built by visionaries, like these businesses, who believed in community, invested in its future, and helped create the vibrant, welcoming place we call home today. They are not only part of our history but also part of our identity.

Their stories were shared in special series of videos that we will be sharing in early 2026 but in the meantime, we celebrate each of them.

San Marino Pizza

Since opening its doors in 1987, this family-run business has served generations of residents with the same commitment to quality, consistency, and heartfelt hospitality. We are honoured to recognize San Marino Pizza in celebration of their longstanding contribution and the countless memories they have helped Barrhaven families create.

Canadian School of Dance

For nearly four decades, the Canadian School of Dance has been a cornerstone of Barrhaven’s arts and culture community. Since 1986, they have inspired thousands of young dancers, nurturing confidence, discipline, and creativity in an environment grounded in excellence. Their studio has become a second home for families, shaping generations of performers and fostering a love of the arts that stretches far beyond the classroom.

With compassion, expertise, and a deep love for animals, their team has supported countless households through every stage of their pets’ lives. Their commitment to high-quality care and their genuine connection with families have made them an integral part of our community.

Founded in 1976, the Nepean School of Music is one of Barrhaven’s longest-standing cultural institutions. For nearly 50 years, they have nurtured the musical talents of children, youth, and adults, helping students discover their confidence, creativity, and passion for the arts. Through decades of lessons, concerts, and community involvement, they have played a vital role in shaping Barrhaven’s artistic landscape.
