Each May, Queensway Carleton Hospital proudly celebrates National Nursing Week — this year from May 11 to May 17, 2026 — a time dedicated to honouring the compassion, skill, and dedication of the nurses who care for our patients and community every day.
From guiding families through life’s most joyful beginnings to supporting patients and loved ones in their most difficult moments, our nurses embody the very best of healthcare. During the National Nursing Week, we want to lift their spirits, show our gratitude, and celebrate the incredible difference they make. That’s why we’re also taking time out to organize some fun activities, giving our nurses the opportunity to relax, connect, and be celebrated by the community they care for.
To make these celebrations truly special, our Nursing Week Planning Committee — a passionate group of hospital staff and volunteers — is organizing a series of recognition and celebratory events. These initiatives are not funded by hospital or foundation dollars; they rely entirely on the generosity of local businesses and community members who want to give back to those who give so much.
Whether you’re able to offer something big or small, every contribution — from a simple gift certificate or a unique experience or a generous non-cash prize — will help make Nursing Week special. Because our celebrations rely on the kindness of our community, we warmly invite you to support in whatever way feels right for you, knowing that no gesture is too modest or too grand. Local favourites like spa and salon services, restaurant vouchers, fitness passes, car care, tax planning, or personal wellness offerings all bring joy and meaning to our events, showing our nurses just how deeply they are valued. Please know that your involvement is never expected but always cherished; we are profoundly grateful for any support you are moved to give.
Every contribution will be gratefully acknowledged during the week’s events and highlighted in a social media post celebrating Nursing Week. Your generosity helps us create memorable moments of thanks for our frontline caregivers.
