In November 2025, the Barrhaven BIA honoured 7 of our community’s oldest independently operated businesses with Legacy Awards. Barrhaven’s business community was built by visionaries, like these businesses, who believed i community, invested in its future, and helped create the vibrant, welcoming place we call home today.
Barrhaven Optometric Centre – 3500 Fallowfield Road
Since 1979, the Barrhaven Optometric Centre team has provided exceptional eye care to generations of families, offering expert service with warmth, attentiveness, and a genuine neighbourhood feel. Their longevity and dedication reflect the deep relationships they’ve built with their patients and their commitment to community wellness.
Barrhaven Optometric Centre was established by Dr. Gordon Young in 1979 as the premier eye care clinic in Barrhaven. Over the years, the clinic has grown with the community and they are proud to have 13 Doctors of Optometry available to serve patients.
Co-owners Drs. Scott McIntosh, Lora Lee Hardy, and Trevor Graham are proud of their community and their role in it. The clinic’s emphasis is to continually evolve and elevate services and products, providing for its patients as per their mission statement: “To protect & enhance our community’s most precious sense: its vision”.
Their support for south Ottawa goes beyond sight, service, and style. They’re proud to participate in and support a variety of charity initiatives and local events, including Optometry Giving Sight, the annual Barrhaven Canada Day celebrations, and the Barrhaven Santa Claus Parade.
