Do your kids love to play video games? Do you sometimes wish they could use that focus for something more creative? Looking for something for them to do this summer? Look no further than one of Barrhaven’s newest businesses: Code Ninjas! Located at 34 Highbury Park Drive, Code Ninjas was slated to open in mid-March but with the pandemic that was obviously delayed. They were finally allowed to open their doors and have little ninjas in the dojo on July 2nd! They are currently offering summer camps and an evening and weekend drop-in program as well as online camps for those who would rather stay home.
Code Ninjas takes a different approach to coding by combining martial arts principles with kids love of video games and creation. Ninjas work through a “belt system” and are able to work and learn at their own pace to complete challenges and activities. Scratch, Javascript, Python, Minecraft, and Roblox are all used to teach children how to make their own games! And now with coding added to the new Ontario math curriculum they can help your kids get a head start.
Every precaution is being taken to keep everyone safe at the dojo. Smaller classes and summer camps ensure plenty of space for each ninja. Everyone is asked to wear a mask and each ninja is assigned their own equipment that is sanitized between each use.
