What is Branching Out Therapy Services?
Branching Out Therapy Services was formerly known as Barrhaven Speech Therapy and we have been operating in Barrhaven since 2009. We offer our services in both official languages. It started out with just two of us but over the years we have grown and brought in more speech pathologists, all with different areas of interest which allow us to help more individuals. We also have clinics in Stittsville and Trainyards.
Why did you choose Barrhaven to open this clinic?
For one thing, we lived here so it made sense to live, play and work all in the same place! I noticed that there was not an establishment in Barrhaven that could offer services like the ones we do so we decided to open one up.
What are the different services offered at Branching Out?
We work with individuals of all ages, from about 18mths old through to the elderly. We help children with language delays, articulation and stutter issues, reading and writing, learning disabilities and autism. We also help adults with developmental delays and low functioning autism as well as those with trouble with their vocal cords either due to overuse, surgery or illness. We can also work with Parkinson’s patients who have a tremor in their voice and those adults with swallowing difficulties.
We have just recently started offering individualized, focused tutoring for reading and math in both French and English.
What do you like best about Barrhaven?
I love that everything is so close and that I do not have to go far for the services and stores I need.
What do you do for fun in Barrhaven?
I like to walk and hang out with my kids at all of the wonderful parks we have!
