Meet Julia Reid
Julia Reid is the Co-Founder and Clinic Director of Play On Pediatric Therapy located at 10 Green Street where their mission is to support and empower kids toward their pursuit of of healthy movement and optimal function. This multi-disciplinary practice emerged from a passion shared with Co-Founder and Lead Physiotherapist, Michelle Warren. Together these two women have built a business that has changed the lives of many families in Barrhaven and beyond. Julia’s story and how this all came to be is inspiring. Julia joined the Barrhaven BIA Board in the last year but also served on our Marketing Committee prior to that. She always brings fresh and exciting ideas and we are so lucky to have her on our team.
In the beginning
Julia grew up in Toronto and is an Athletic Therapist. After completing school, she started practicing in her field but quickly fell into a leadership role as a Clinic Director. She loved combining both hands on patient care with the business side of things so much so that she returned to school to get her Master in Health Administration. After completing this degree, she landed multiple corporate health and hospital roles but she missed the client care side of things.
Life and work coming together
At the same time, Julia was starting her family – she is now the proud mother of 4 beautiful children. When her eldest was faced with some health challenges, she navigated the health care system with few answers until they landed with Michelle, a Pediatric Physiotherapist, who was able to finally provide those answers and bring some much needed relief to her child through a holistic approach. At the same time, Julia was looking for change that could bring her back to client care and through conversations with Michelle, Play On Pediatric Therapy was born.
Living proof
Julia, as a parent herself, knows first hand the impact that pediatric focused care can make and this drives her passion. Her favourite part of her job is when parents and children share their successes due to the care they have received at the clinic; having been there herself with her own kids, she can see that relief and joy through her own eyes – over the years, all her children have benefitted from care at the clinic too. And while her primary focus at the clinic is as the Director, she is still able to work with patients needing athletic therapy which brings the perfect balance that she had been looking for.
